On
Tuesday October 8th 2013,
a delegation from No One is Illegal (NOII) – Ottawa visited
Minister Madeleine Meilleur’s office in Ottawa to show our
support
and solidarity for the nearly 200 immigration detainees who
have been
on hunger strike in Lindsey, Ontario since September 17,
2013. As
the Provincial Minister of Community Safety and
Correctional
Services, Minister Meilleur has a responsibility to listen to
and
address the concerns of the immigration detainees. The
delegation
of NOII-Ottawa members joined family members of detainees,
supporters and community members across Ontario to protest and
speak
out against indefinite immigration detentions and the cruel
prison
conditions immigration detainees’ face in Ontario and across
Canada.
NOII-Ottawa
strongly opposes indefinite immigration detentions and the
atrocious
conditions immigration detainees are forced to endure across
Canada!
NOII-Ottawa
supports and stands in solidarity with all immigration
detainees,
their families, and all others
affected.
NOI-Ottawa
also calls for an end to detentions and an end to
deportations!
