No One Is Illegal - Ottawa reLaunch Conference

No One Is Illegal - Ottawa is organizing a conference on migrant justice titled “Building movement” on November 1 and 2 in Ottawa. The conference has two key goals: to enhance community knowledge and engagement on migrant justice; and to strengthen community partnerships between activists, academics, immigrants, and service providers in the city.

The conference will begin on the evening of Friday, November 1 with an opening panel at the University of Ottawa, followed by a day of workshops on Saturday (November 2) at the Jack Purcell Centre. Workshops will be offered on a broad range of topics, including an overview of current immigration policy, labor practices, indigenous solidarity organizing, and a youth focused zine-making workshop. There will also be immigration lawyers on hand for quick consultations and advice around immigration cases on Saturday. The conference will end with an amazing evening of spoken word, music, and dancing at the Fall Down Gallery at 288 Bank Street.
We're excited about the conference and have already received endorsements from the Ontario Public Interest Research Group-uOttawa (OPIRG/GRIPO-Ottawa), Organizing for Justice, the Indigenous Peoples Solidarity Movement - Ottawa, and the Graduate Students’ Association of the University of Ottawa. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for free on Saturday during the conference by local businesses and Food Not Bombs.

All the venues for the conference are wheelchair accessible. There will also be ASL interpretation if needed. Childcare will be provided for the opening event on Friday evening and Saturday during the day. Limited funds are also available to compensate for use of public transportation to come to the conference.  Contact us at noiiottawa@gmail.com to make accommodation requests for translation, accessibility, transportation, or childcare by Monday, October 28.
